What Happened to “My Excused Absence”?

It appears that free doctor’s excuses brought down another “pay for” competitor in the doctor excuse biz.  My Excused Absences no longer appears to be functioning online.

After struggling for months with the immense popularity of free doctor’s excuses, it appears they have finally succumbed to the superior FREE products they offer over there.

If there was any doubt as to the popularity of free doctor’s excuses, by taking down the biggest in the business, they’ve proved they’re here to stay.

The future of doctor’s excuses

While it is currently common practice to receive a doctor’s excuse after being diagnosed with a contagious illness that would keep you from attending your normal work day, it is true that most all doctor’s offices are now going to EMR (Electronic Medical Records).  

With the advent of digital prescriptions and EMR, it is only a matter of time until free doctor’s excuses are no longer created in the real world, but are sent to your employer digitally.

What do you think about this?  Do you think it is the death knell of free doctor’s excuses?

Doctor’s notes are one of the most requested items on the Internet. Yet no one seems to be able to answer the question “Are [fake] doctor’s notes legal?

To try to answer the question, you can use a search engine such as Google to search for legality, or you can consult legal counsel, but the ultimate answer you get largely depends on who you ask, and in which state you reside.

In some states, it is a class ‘E’ felony, but in others there are no clear lines. Any way you slice it, though, morally, it is questionable to use doctor’s notes to get out of some commitment.

CareerBuilder.com performed a survey of several thousand employers and employees.  While the majority of hiring managers believe their employees’ reasons for being late to work, more than 27 percent say they are skeptical of the excuses.

Hiring managers provided the following top ten examples of the most unusual excuses employees offered for arriving late to work:
1. While rowing across the river to work, I got lost in the fog.
2. Someone stole all my daffodils.
3. I had to go audition for American Idol.
4. My ex-husband stole my car so I couldn’t drive to work.
5. My route to work was shut down by a Presidential motorcade.
6. I wasn’t thinking and accidentally went to my old job.
7. I was indicted for securities fraud this morning.
8. The line was too long at Starbucks.
9. I was trying to get my gun back from the police.
10. I didn’t have money for gas because all of the pawn shops were closed.
